The nature of research and development means that we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

The Head of CRD is based in Cheonan, directly leads a team of program managers and project leaders in the CRD organization and coordinates activities outside the organization. We expect the person to define, execute and manage the long term product & process research and development work on rechargeable battery materials. Also be accountable for the knowledge generation and knowledge condensation through an in-depth understanding of the relationships between process, product characteristics and the performance of current and future product in the applications. Main responsibilities are; 
Competence development and team management:
-    Define the strategic direction of the competences needed to be successful in the long term research on rechargeable battery materials technology.  Redefine the competences in accordance with the changing environment
-    Build and manage a team of highly skilled employees that have, can further develop or can acquire the identified competences through internal or external collaborations
-    Actively lead public funded research project

Project management:
-    Definition, coordination and timely execution of a portfolio of long-term projects
-    Reporting the overall project status and next steps towards management
-    Set-up and oversee the external research efforts
-    Define and manage the application of current IT to R&D challenges (data mining, ‘big’ data)  

IP management:
-    Lead the translation of the knowledge generated within the CRD into a strong IP portfolio
-    Develop and structure the long term patent portfolio

Who we are looking for

-    An inspiring leader who is ready to communicate with diverse relevant parties 
-    Self-motivated person with open mind and positive mindset 
-    PhD with 10+ years’ of experience’ from Materials or Battery field
-    Solid expertise in Rechargeable battery materials area – from ‘process & product R&D and product design’ to ‘the application of characterization techniques to challenges in materials development’
-    Native Korean speaker who can additionally communicate in spoken and written English 
-    Full of team spirit and able to coach his/her team
