Battery Intdustry Day Awards 2025

Regional sales director, Kim Tae Kyun, of Umicore’s Battery Materials in Korea was awarded the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) Commendation during the ‘2025 Battery Industry Day’, organized by the Korean Battery Industry Association (KBIA) on October 30. 

The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Korea’s battery industry through technological innovation and competitive advancement. 

 With more than 16 years of deep involvement in the cathode materials sector, the MOTIE award recognized Mr. Kim’s  achievements in supporting the growth of Korea’s battery ecosystem in particular through the strengthening the export competitiveness and stabilizing the supply chain of Korea's battery industry.

As regional sales director, Mr. Kim among others successfully supplied Umicore’s high-quality cathode materials to Korea's key battery companies, supporting their global market positioning and contributed to expanding exports to Europe, the United States and Asia. He furthermore diversified the domestic sourcing of the raw material supply chain by strengthening cooperation with Korean raw material suppliers and reducing reliance on overseas suppliers and enhancing the domestic battery materials production. 

SangHoon Park, the Managing Director  of Umicore Battery Materials Korea stated, "This award reflects Umicore's dedication to growing together with the domestic secondary battery ecosystem and we remain committed to the development of Korea’s battery industry through innovative technologies."
