Joon-Gi Jeon, Metal/Plant/Cost Controlling Director for Umicore’s battery cathode materials in Korea, has received the Industrial Service Medal at the 2026 Foreign Company Day ceremony held on November 3 in recognition of his contributions to attracting foreign investment.

Foreign Company Day, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR) and organized by the Korea Foreign Company Association (FORCA), recognizes companies and individuals who have contributed to national economic development by attracting foreign direct investment.

Through efficient management and timely deployment of the funds, Jeon supported the expansion of production facilities and the establishment of new production lines at the Cheonan site. This helped increase production capacity, establish a stable supply chain with domestic battery manufacturers, and strengthen the global competitiveness of Korea’s battery industry.

He also supported job creation and employment in Korea, alongside greater involvement of Korean suppliers and local partners in equipment procurement and construction. These efforts included supporting the local sourcing of key equipment and contributed to the local economy.

“It is deeply meaningful and a great honor to receive the Industrial Service Medal for contributions to attracting foreign investment for the second consecutive year," said Sang-Hoon Park, Managing Director of Umicore Battery Materials Korea. "We will continue to build a stable supply chain based on Korea’s strong battery industry ecosystem and contribute to strengthening Korea’s industrial competitiveness and promoting regional economic development.”
